In a world that champions independence and the ability to do everything on your own, how do we resist the tendency...and the expectation...to not rely on anyone else?  Jake and Justin talk through Proverbs 18:1 and the implications this has on our lives.  We also bring in an old friend to talk about this issue of isolation and how it played out in his family.  

 

Proverbs 18:1 - "He who isolates himself seeks his own desire, he breaks out against all sound judgment."

If you've never heard of Brene Brown, then now is a good time to familiarize yourself with her.  She has a lot to say on vulnerability, shame, fear, etc.  I mean, come on, anyone who's "bottom line" on the front page of her website says this, is worth learning more about: 

"The bottom line: I believe that vulnerability – the willingness to be “all in” even when you know it can mean failing and hurting – is brave. I do NOT believe that cussing and praying are mutually exclusive. And, I absolutely believe that the passing lane is for passing only."
